A weekend away in June to sunny wales, yes you heard correctly, very sunny wales to watch the classic race team from Harwich Motorcycle Club at Anglsea race track.
The ride was broken into stages, the first was to ride quickly from Colchester to Stafford for the first overnight stay. The second day gave us time to ride from Stafford with the aim of arriving in Anglsea Friday evening. We set off through beautiful countryside to get to the top of Horseshoe Pass for breakfast at the Ponderosa Cafe, this has got to be the best breakfast I have ever had, in the sun on the top of the world with good friends, magic. The ride down the other side was stunning, through the single track steep twisting roads with the smell of summer in the air.
Our next aim was to find a pub on the beach one of the riders remembered from childhood holidays, the Ty Coch Inn at Porthdinllaen, the only way to get there was a walk along the beach in all our motorcycle gear, a little hot in the sun, not my first choice for walking clothing but when we arrive at ‘the pub on the beach’ it was all worth it. The photographs of the approach to the beach, the walk along and the view from our pub table speak volumes, it was breathtaking.
Our journey resumed to the race track where we set up camp on the edge of the track for the weekend of racing. The weather throughout was lovely, the track was set on the edge of the island over looking the sea. The mixture of sunshine, motorcycles, friends and beer made for an exceptional and entertaining few days.
We began our return home spending the night in Birmingham to break up the journey followed by a slow ride back to Essex.
